I discovered this Ted video through a friend’s gtalk status just a couple of days ago. If you know Nathalie Merchant, you know that she is the founder of what I call ‘warming folk music’ mixed with magical lyrics and her fairytale-like voice. Her latest project of 6 years, Leave Your Sleep, is an enchanting genius, as she researched, written, and also collected classical and contemporary children’s poetry of the 19th century. Leave your sleep was released on April 23, 2010 and hit number one in Billboard Folk Albums.
